About

The Full Story

I was born and raised in Puerto Rico. I went to the University of Puerto Rico at Mayaguez where I got a bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering in 2012. Got married in 2013 to the love of my life and moved to Texas in 2014. We are both dog lovers and we strongly believe that all doggies deserve to be loved, no matter their breed. So, we adopted 4 doggies: Lou, Pixie, Nala and Ginger. I started an Interior Design online course (still in progress!!) because I have a passion to design and create, whether it be a living room or a complete system of reactors and piping stuff (nerd alert!) . Back in 2016, we were blessed to get pregnant with a girl. Sadly, in August we lost her to preterm labor. 3 months later we got pregnant again with a boy. After a very hard pregnancy, not only emotional but physical as well, we were blessed with a healthy boy who was born in August 2017.

This blog is born out of the (aforementioned) passion that I have for design and creating. When we bought our first house, I wanted to customize so many things. Since I was pregnant with my girl, I couldn’t do much. When we lost her, part of my therapy was working with wood (repainting cabinets, creating custom made shelves, repurposing old stuff, etc.). I also redecorated our living room, our bedroom, and even the foyer. When I got pregnant again, I had to step down, but that fire to keep creating was still within me. I quit my job as an Engineer to become a stay at home mom, but even though I’m in my house all day long, I really had little to no time to continue working on my projects (all you SAHM know what I’m talking about!!). Now that our baby is getting more and more (in)dependent, I have been able to pick up what I left and, in the process, start this blog.

You might be wondering why this blog is called “A Beautiful Snowflake”. You're probably thinking "she has lived in the Caribbean for 25+ years and Texas for 4 (oops, now you know how old I am) so she definitely doesn’t know too much about snow". Well, you might be right. However, I am not talking about a literal snowflake. You see, since my daughter was supposed to be born on Christmas Eve, snowflakes remind me of her. Snowflakes make me happy. And always remember, no snowflake ever falls in the wrong place.

I hope you enjoy browsing my site and all the unique content I have to offer. Take a look around; perhaps you’ll discover your own snowflake! Read on and enjoy!
